Youth Choristers (ages 8–18)
Boys and girls in all voice parts — from beginners to those aiming towards scholarships. Youth choristers receive a termly allowance, with additional support available for strong contributors.
St Giles has a friendly parish choir with a strong tradition of Choral Evensong. We welcome singers of different ages and backgrounds, and we’re proud of a track record of developing young musicians and supporting them towards the next stage.
Because our main choral commitment is in the evening, Sunday mornings are usually free — something many families (and organ-scholar candidates) prefer.
We sing a wide range of music across the year: psalms, canticles, hymns and anthems, with additional services for major festivals (Christmas, Holy Week/Easter) and occasional weddings and funerals.
The choir is a mixed-age community. Adults provide warmth, stability and leadership, and we also have a particularly strong cohort of teenagers who help younger singers thrive.
Friday 19:30–21:00 rehearsal and Sunday 18:30 choral service most weeks. We also sing about one Sunday morning service per month — and on that day we do not sing in the evening.
For full details of dates and any special services, please see the schedule.

Adult singers are a vital part of our sound and community. If you can hold a part, listen well, and turn up regularly, you’ll be very welcome.
In practice, our Organ Scholar is the principal choral accompanist for rehearsals and services. The evening pattern often leaves Sunday mornings free for another church post.
The easiest first step is to come as a guest to a Friday rehearsal (for youth or adults), or to email with your details and availability.
